Gendius

Gendius is a digital health company dedicated to improving the control of diabetes through the use of the Intellin app and its GP dashboard. The app allows Users to manage their diabetes by analysing their clinical history and identifying their personal risk factors and how to minimise these risks.

Intellin is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms which will become more accurate as the database grows. Therefore, we are seeking permission to gather anonymised diabetic and prediabetic data from 100 GP providers. This will be used by The University of Nottingham’s Advanced Data Analysis Centre to further develop the AI engine so that these risk predictions become increasingly accurate and personalised. The data extraction will be run by Wellbeing Software (Apollo) who are suppliers of primary care data extraction services in the UK, serving both the NHS and the private sector.

Wellbeing Software have developed technology that can extract data from all the major GP systems in use and the key clinical data can be extracted out of hours to ensure no interruption to your service. Wellbeing Software will provide the SQL Suite software free of charge to the GP data controller. SQL Suite always remains under practice control, meaning Apollo do not have direct access to the data held within the system. The SQL download is encrypted using a combination of AES 256 and a project unique 2048-bit RSA public/private key pair.

Data security

All data will anonymised and subject to GDPR regulation. The data will be stored securely on the Amazon Web Server based in the UK, with the backup in the UK, and used solely in the UK by Gendius Limited, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Nottingham. Gendius Limited is GDPR compliant, ISO27001 certified and DSPT certified, (Organisation Code: 8KH74).
